Home and the brief
Home is where you start work and catch up. Open it with Home at the top of the sidebar, or press ⌘1. It shows, from top to bottom:
- A greeting with the date and time.
- The composer.
- Getting set up, a checklist for new members, until you finish it or close it.
- Action Requested, threads waiting on you.
- Your brief.
The composer
Section titled “The composer”Type in Ask anything… and send to start a new thread. Under the box you pick its space, or None for no space, and the model and device it runs on. A thread started from Home can read your brief, so you can refer to its items directly. See The assistant.
Action Requested
Section titled “Action Requested”When an agent is blocked on you, its thread appears under Action Requested. It might have a question, something to confirm, an app to connect, or files to upload. Click a row to open the thread and answer there. To hide a row for a day, hover it and click Snooze for one day.
The brief
Section titled “The brief”Your brief is one living document that your agents keep. It holds everything worth your attention now: what they found, decisions for you to make, and work they can do. You don’t write it. You act on it.
Two built-in routines write most of it. By default, Matter Assistant checks in every 30 minutes from 6 AM to midnight, and Matter Checkup suggests improvements to your setup daily at 7:00. Other routines and threads can add to it too. Neither built-in routine runs until you choose a default model. See Routines.
The brief has:
- A title: Today’s Brief, This Week’s Brief or Your Brief, depending on your schedule.
- A header with when it was last updated, History, a settings button, and arrows to older and newer briefs.
- A headline: one line on what matters most.
- The body, one item per paragraph or list item.
- Done: what was resolved since the brief last rolled over.
While Matter Assistant works, the header shows Checking in or Working. Click it to open its thread.
The sidebar’s Home turns bold when your brief has news, and shows a count of the actions it offers.
Act on a block
Section titled “Act on a block”Hover any paragraph, list item or section. A card opens beside it with:
- The block’s actions, if it has any: work an agent can do for you, a question with suggested answers and a field for your own, or an app to connect.
- Threads started from this block, and whether they’re still working.
- Ask about this, to ask a question about the block.
- Dismiss, to hide the block.
Each action, answer or question starts a new thread. It opens in a side panel beside the brief, on the composer’s model and device. Several can run at once, and closing a tab doesn’t stop one. Links in the brief to tasks, docs and threads open in the same panel. The panel button at the top right of Home shows or hides it.
Dismissed blocks fold away. At the end of the brief, Dismissed and a count lists them, each with Restore. ⌘Z also undoes a dismissal. Your agents see what you dismissed and don’t raise it again.
Rollover and history
Section titled “Rollover and history”On your schedule, the brief rolls over. A copy goes to History, Done starts over, and your agents bring the brief up to date. If no agent wrote to it since the last rollover, nothing goes to History.
Set the schedule in Settings, then Brief, or with the settings button in the brief’s header:
- Start a new brief: Every day (the default, at 4:00), Every week, or Never, which keeps one running brief.
- Day: for a weekly brief.
- Time: in your timezone, which you set in Settings, then Profile.
Click History to list past briefs by headline in the side panel, and click one to open it. The arrows in the header also page through them.
